The ESP32-WROOM-32U Development Board is basically a development/breakout board for Espressif’s ESP32-WROOM-32U series chip. It features both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, has 4MB of flash and 520kB of SRAM which can be used to store custom code, along with many more features which you can read about below. Programming one of these is very simple and can be done via the micro-USB connector which makes use of the on-board CP2102 USB to UART chip.

These boards are manufactured in China and come in a few different flavours. This dev board follows the pinout and general layout of the “ESP32_Devkitc_V4” model which is very similar to the original ESP32 Devkit board sold by Espressif. The most notable difference between the ESP32-WROOM-32U and ESP32-WROOM-32D variants that we stock is the style of antenna used by the module. Both feature the same specs, but this type has an IPEX/U.FL antenna connector which allows an external antenna to be used with module. This can be very useful in certain applications but also means you require an additional external antenna in order to use the module properly.
