Quantity

The 0.56-inch Red 1-Digit 7-Segment LED Display is a bright and easy-to-read numeric display designed for clocks, timers, counters, voltmeters, measurement instruments, control panels, and microcontroller projects.

The display uses a Common Anode (CA) configuration and consists of seven individually controlled LED segments plus a decimal point. By controlling the individual segments, numbers 0–9 and selected hexadecimal characters can be displayed.

With a 0.56-inch character height and bright red illumination, it provides good visibility for both prototyping and finished electronic devices.

Key Features

  • Display Type: 7-segment LED
  • Number of Digits: 1
  • Digit Height: 0.56 inch
  • LED Color: Red
  • Configuration: Common Anode (CA)
  • Number of Segments: 7 + decimal point
  • Typical Segment Current: 20 mA
  • Typical Forward Voltage: Approx. 2 V
  • Bright and easy-to-read characters
  • Individual segment control
  • Suitable for breadboards and PCB designs
  • Easy to interface with microcontrollers and digital circuits

How It Works

The display contains eight individual LEDs: seven segments labeled A through G and one decimal point labeled DP.

Because this is a Common Anode (CA) display, the anodes of the LED segments are connected together internally. The common-anode pins are connected to the positive supply voltage (VCC).

To illuminate a particular segment, its corresponding cathode pin is driven LOW.

Different combinations of segments can be activated to display numbers from 0 to 9 and selected letters or hexadecimal characters.

Current-Limiting Resistors

A suitable current-limiting resistor should be connected to each segment to prevent excessive current from damaging the LED display or the controlling microcontroller.

Using an individual resistor for each segment is recommended because it helps maintain consistent brightness regardless of the number of illuminated segments.
