Analog Liquid pH Sensor Module with BNC Electrode Probe – pH 0–14

The Analog Liquid pH Sensor Module is designed for measuring the acidity or alkalinity of liquids in electronics, Arduino, water-quality monitoring, hydroponics, aquarium, and laboratory projects.

The kit combines a pH electrode probe with a signal-conditioning module, providing an analog voltage signal that can be read by a compatible microcontroller or data-acquisition system.

With a measurement range of pH 0–14, it provides a convenient solution for experimenting with and monitoring liquid pH levels.

pH 0–14 Measurement

The sensor is designed to measure liquids across the standard pH 0–14 scale.

A pH value indicates how acidic or alkaline a solution is:

  • pH below 7 – Acidic
  • pH 7 – Neutral
  • pH above 7 – Alkaline / Basic

This makes the sensor useful for water-quality experiments, hydroponics, aquariums, educational projects, and other applications where monitoring liquid pH is required.

Analog Output

The interface board conditions the signal from the pH electrode and provides an analog voltage output.

This analog signal can be measured by the ADC of a compatible microcontroller and converted into an estimated pH value through software.

For useful measurements, the system should be calibrated using known pH buffer solutions rather than relying on an uncalibrated voltage-to-pH conversion.

BNC pH Electrode

The included pH electrode connects to the interface module through a BNC connector.

The electrode is the sensing element that is placed in the liquid being measured, while the electronic module remains outside the liquid.

Only the appropriate sensing portion of the probe should be immersed. The electronic interface board is not waterproof and must be kept dry.

Arduino & Microcontroller Integration

The sensor can be integrated into projects using controllers such as:

  • Arduino Uno
  • Arduino Mega
  • Arduino Nano
  • ESP32
  • STM32
  • Raspberry Pi Pico
  • Other ADC-Equipped Controllers

For microcontrollers with 3.3V-only ADC inputs, such as many ESP32 and STM32 boards, verify the module's actual analog output range before connecting it directly to the ADC.

A Raspberry Pi computer does not have a built-in analog input and therefore requires an external ADC to read this sensor.

Calibration

For improved measurement accuracy, calibration should be performed using standard pH buffer solutions.

Common reference buffers include:

  • pH 4.00
  • pH 7.00
  • pH 10.00

Calibration compensates for differences between individual electrodes, interface boards, temperature, electrode aging, and other measurement conditions.

Applications

Ideal for Arduino water-quality projects, hydroponics, aquariums, laboratory experiments, educational projects, environmental monitoring, water-treatment prototypes, liquid testing, agricultural projects, automated growing systems, and IoT water-monitoring systems.

Important Note

This sensor should be calibrated before relying on its readings. Measurement accuracy depends on electrode condition, calibration quality, temperature, electrical noise, contamination, and the liquid being tested.

The pH probe should be handled carefully and maintained according to normal pH-electrode practices. Avoid allowing the sensing element to dry out for extended periods if the supplied electrode requires wet storage.

Do not immerse the electronic interface board in water.

For professional laboratory, medical, food-safety, or regulatory measurements, use appropriately calibrated and certified instrumentation.
