ESP32 30-Pin Expansion Board – Type-C, Micro USB & DC Power
The ESP32 30-Pin Expansion Board is a convenient breakout and power expansion board designed for 30-pin ESP32 development boards, including common ESP32 DevKit V1 / ESP-WROOM-32-based boards.
It expands the ESP32 GPIO connections into easy-to-use GVS (Ground, Voltage, Signal) headers while providing multiple power-input options and selectable 3.3V or 5V peripheral power.
It is ideal for connecting sensors, displays, relays, servos and other modules while keeping ESP32 projects organized and reducing complicated wiring.

ESP32 Development Board Included: No
Designed for 30-Pin ESP32 Boards
This expansion board is specifically designed for the 30-pin ESP32 form factor.
A compatible ESP32 board has:
15 pins on each side = 30 pins total
It is not compatible with 38-pin ESP32 boards, which have 19 pins on each side.
Always check the pin count and physical spacing of your ESP32 development board before purchasing.
GVS GPIO Expansion
The expansion board brings the ESP32 GPIO connections out to convenient GVS headers:
- G – Ground
- V – Voltage
- S – Signal
This makes it much easier to connect 3-wire sensors and modules without using a breadboard or multiple power-distribution wires.
It is particularly useful for:
- Sensors
- Servo Motors
- Relay Modules
- Displays
- Buttons
- LEDs
- I²C Modules
- SPI Modules
- UART Devices
Selectable 3.3V / 5V Power
The onboard jumper allows the V power rail to be selected between:
3.3V or 5V
This provides greater flexibility when working with peripheral modules requiring different supply voltages.
Important ESP32 Logic-Level Note
The selectable 3.3V/5V rail is intended to provide power to external modules.
It does not change the ESP32 GPIO logic level.
ESP32 GPIO operates at approximately:
3.3V logic
Do not apply a 5V signal directly to an ESP32 GPIO pin.
If a 5V-powered sensor produces a 5V signal output, a suitable voltage divider or logic-level converter may be required.
Multiple Power Input Options
The expansion board provides several convenient power options.
USB Type-C
Micro-USB
DC Barrel Jack
The onboard regulator provides the required lower-voltage supply for the board.
Onboard Voltage Regulator
The expansion board includes an onboard regulator rated at approximately:
5V / 1A
This allows a higher-voltage DC adapter to be used through the barrel-jack input.
The actual available current depends on input voltage, regulator temperature and the total load connected to the board.
I²C Expansion
A dedicated I²C connection provides convenient access to the ESP32's commonly used I²C lines.
Typical ESP32 DevKit assignments are:
-
SDA: GPIO21
-
SCL: GPIO22
-
VCC: Selectable 3.3V / 5V
-
GND: Ground
This makes connecting I²C sensors and displays easier.
Power Indicator
An onboard PWR LED provides a visual indication that the expansion board is receiving power.
