This is an LM2596 DC-DC buck converter step-down power module with high-precision potentiometer for adjusting output voltage, capable of driving a load up to 3A with high efficiency. When the output current required is greater than 2.5A (10W) an external heat sink is suggested.

This regulator is equipped with a precision multiturn potentiometers to accurately adjust both the output voltage and current. The input supplied voltage should be 1.5V higher than the output desired voltage. This regulator supports a wide range of input voltage from 1.5V up to 35V, with 3A high current, but for long-time operating continuous current under 2.5A is recommended, and for operating power more than 10 watts, a heatsink is needed.
