Power over Ethernet Support

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ includes support for Power over Ethernet (PoE) when used with a compatible Raspberry Pi PoE HAT or suitable PoE hardware.

This allows both power and network connectivity to be delivered through an Ethernet installation.

PoE is particularly useful for:

  • Remote sensors
  • Wall-mounted installations
  • IoT gateways
  • Security systems
  • Network appliances
  • Industrial prototypes

A PoE HAT is required and is not built into the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ itself.

USB Connectivity

The board provides:

  • 4 × USB 2.0 ports

These can be used with compatible:

  • Keyboards
  • Mice
  • USB storage
  • Cameras
  • Serial adapters
  • Wi-Fi peripherals
  • Development tools
  • Other USB devices

Full-Size HDMI Output

A full-size HDMI connector provides digital video and audio output to compatible displays.

This makes the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ suitable for:

  • Desktop applications
  • Multimedia
  • Digital signage
  • Information displays
  • Educational systems
  • User interfaces

Camera Interface

A dedicated MIPI CSI camera interface allows compatible Raspberry Pi camera modules to be connected.

Typical applications include:

  • Computer vision
  • Robotics
  • Security cameras
  • Time-lapse photography
