Broadcom BCM2835 Processor
The Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 is powered by the Broadcom BCM2835 SoC, providing a 1GHz ARM11 processor.
-
Processor: Broadcom BCM2835
-
CPU: ARM11 Single-Core
-
CPU Clock: 1GHz
-
Memory: 512MB RAM
-
GPU: VideoCore IV
This provides sufficient performance for lightweight Linux applications, electronics projects, automation, networking, and embedded computing.
Compact Form Factor
One of the biggest advantages of the Raspberry Pi Zero is its extremely small size.
With dimensions of approximately:
65 × 30mm
it can be integrated into projects where a standard Raspberry Pi Model B would be too large.
This makes it particularly useful for:
- Portable electronics
- Embedded systems
- Robotics
- Wearable projects
- Camera systems
- Compact IoT devices
CSI Camera Connector
An important feature of the Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 is its onboard CSI camera connector.
This allows compatible Raspberry Pi camera modules to be connected for applications such as:
- Security cameras
- Time-lapse photography
- Robotics
- Computer vision
- Remote monitoring
- Image capture
- Embedded camera systems
Important Camera Cable Note
The Raspberry Pi Zero uses a smaller camera connector than many standard Raspberry Pi Model B boards.
A compatible Raspberry Pi Zero camera cable is therefore required when connecting standard Raspberry Pi camera modules.
A normal 15-pin Raspberry Pi camera ribbon cable cannot be connected directly to the Zero V1.3 camera connector.
Mini-HDMI Output
The board provides a Mini-HDMI connector for connecting compatible displays, TVs, and monitors.
A suitable Mini-HDMI adapter or cable may be required depending on your display.
Micro-USB OTG
A Micro-USB OTG connection allows compatible USB peripherals to be connected to the Raspberry Pi Zero.
With the appropriate OTG adapter or hub, you can connect devices such as:
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- USB flash drive
- USB Wi-Fi adapter
- Ethernet adapter
- Serial adapter
- Other USB peripherals
40-Pin GPIO
The Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 provides the standard Raspberry Pi 40-pin GPIO layout, but the header is normally not pre-soldered.
Users can install a suitable 40-pin header depending on the project requirements.
The GPIO provides access to interfaces including:
- Digital GPIO
- I2C
- SPI
- UART
- PWM
- 3.3V
- 5V
- Ground
Storage
The Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 uses a microSD card for the operating system and data storage.
Raspberry Pi OS or another compatible operating system can be installed depending on the application.
Connectivity
Unlike the Raspberry Pi Zero W, the standard Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 does not include onboard Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Wireless connectivity can be added using a compatible USB adapter through the Micro-USB OTG connection.

Important Note
The Raspberry Pi Zero V1.3 does not include built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. For integrated wireless connectivity, consider a Raspberry Pi Zero W or newer wireless Raspberry Pi Zero model.
The standard Zero V1.3 normally has an unpopulated GPIO header, so soldering may be required if you need to connect GPIO accessories.
Power supply, microSD card, cables, GPIO header, camera, case, and other accessories are not included.
